whiny days

Mondays are a toss up. They can either go smoothly, or all crziness can break loose. I think that Michael is on a growth spurt, and so he is tired more. When Michael is tired, the whole world should be able to tell. He gets incredibly whiny and he gets his feelings hurt very easily. I mean you speak to him strongly and he starts glazing up with tears in his eyes. Today was one of those days. I met one of my good friends for lunch today. Who am I kidding, right now she's my only good friend. Anyway, I met layce for lunch eighth her cute eight month old daughter Alexis. Michael and Aiden had a fun time talking to her and staring at her respectively. Michael ate 6, count them, 6 pieces of pizza today. I would see that he was on his lst piece and throw another one on his plate and he just kept going. In fact, I had to go get more cheese pizza for me, because I gave him all of mine!!! Then after that I got him two brownies. That kid is growing. He and Kevin from church used to be the same exact size, and because they have the same hair color when you can't see they're clothes and they are running around, you used to not be able to tell who is who. Now Michael is a good inch taller at least! For now any way.
I am enjoying my (kinda) tow weeks off from Mother's Day Out until the fall semester starts. I am teaching, so I hope it won't be stressful. I think I'll just be nervous when Licensing is there. But I usually preform pretty well in high pressure situations. Who knows, that was before pregnancy hormones. Sometimes now when the fire alarm goes off, I feel like bursting out into tears like a two year old. I am sitting there thinking to myself what to do, and I do it, and then when I get outside, I just feel like falling on the ground and crying. How pathetic is that?? i guess I just want to good for the kids sake. And I hope I don't have any crazy parents or kids. I am not very patient with, shall I say it??, stupid people. I have to take a quote from Kathy Levine, one of the mdo teachers, "God bless the slow." So far I've been pretty blessed to have a teacher that is my equal opposite. Dana was always the take them to the side and be nicey nice person. Then when that didn't work, she would send me in to do the dirty work. Don't get me wrong, I'm as nice as I can be, but I just tell them the truth no one else wants to. That's how I would want to be treated. I NEED to know if my son is being a complete devil that day so that I can correct his attitude. Some parents aren't to that level yet, but I try and help whatever way I can.
I'm excited though about everything. I actually get to work in the same building that my children are in, and then I get to spend the rest of the day with them. I love that. Even when the children that I deal with all day zap me of every patient atom I have in me, I just pray for the Lord to help me, and I go home and try and love on them the best I can. Sometimes I can feel the Lord speak to me. I can't ever really hear it, I just feel it. When I am a millisecond away from screaming at Michael for the 80th time to do what I ask of him, I can just feel this small calm come over me as I take that breath in; and I can tell that he thinks I'm going to yell; and I just smile at him and ask him for a hug. Then I tell him how much I love him and that what he did was wrong, or whatever it might be at that moment. Then he gets to sit in time out or whatever the punishment is for today. I thank the Lord for that every single time. It's like he puts into my head what he would do, and I'm overcome with that desire just to love.
Michael is strong-willed, but he is probably the biggest goof ball of a child I have ever in my life seen. He just makes me laugh at how smart and goofy he is. But today he got his finger smushed at Pappaw's CiCi's. He was over at the car, and stuck his hand in the wring place at the wrong time and got it smushed really bad. He just cried for about 5 min. straight. All he wanted me to do was hold him. but then he had some coke, and it made it all better. The trials of childhood.
I don't know what to do. Aiden is about to not fit in size three diapers any more. I did get the Target brand that aren't as stretchy, so I might just go ahead and get the luvs again. They might fit him for a bit longer. Michael wears a size 5 diaper for bedtime. I guess I could just eventually use those. (sigh) I'm probably going to jinx myself by saying this, but Aiden has slept until 6 each morning now for 3 or 4 days straight. Tonight he went to bed about 8:30 or 9 or something. I think that is around the time he usually goes to bed. We can hope that this sleep pattern stays the same for a while at least. We shall see.
The picture of Aiden sleeping is after last nights cry fest. Then there are my bigger boys at chili's(note the even bigger hole in his pants) and Randi playing with the boys. and then there is Michael with Layce's baby st CiCi's today.
have a great night.

plain jane day

Peter's home! Micheal had so much fun with him yesterday. We hung around here and hada visit from Peter's cousin Marda and her twins Tyler and Ainsely. It again reminds me how much we are going to have to baby proof the house. At least the floor was cleaner this time. I again let Michael play in the sandbox at maybe 8:30 this morning, because it would be too hot later in the day. He played for a good hour or so out there, maybe longer. Then he came in and took a shower. When I went to get him out, I turned off the water first and then opened the shower curtain. Normally he yells no, as he doesn't want to get out. This time he was just sitting and smiling at me, and got right out. I thought something was wrong and so I looked around only to find the razor on the side of the tub, with a bunch of hair all around it. He looked up and told me that he had tried to cut his hair with the razor. I took a good look at his head and thankfully I haven't cut his hair yet. You can't really see anything at all. he has never really tried anything like that before. at least not that I remember, and never ever with a razor. He normally doesn't ever play with things like that. He knows better. I guess curiosity wins every time.
After that we went out to that new ross over at richardson square. It was pretty interesting, didn't buy anything though. Then we came home and hung out for the rest of the night. There was a period where Aiden was really just laughing and laughing at me. I would just talk to him, or do the "boo" stuff, and he just belly laughed. Other than that not much to mention.
I do want to show you some pics I took on Thurs. at MDO. Aiden was at first concerned about little Sierra when she started bouncing up and down and making noise, but then when she turned around and looked at him, he smiled at her. I guess she was amusing.
Goodnight

Tomorrow is wonderful

Today is hump day!! yeah! My hump day only has one day on either side of it, so I guess it loses it's coolness. I am, as of Tues., the official K4 teacher for the fall semester. Can everyone scream with me?? More of a aaahhh scream than a yahh scream!! Don't get me wrong in the least! I am beyond excited about it. Just nervous. I think that it is ok and good to be nervous about something so important though. I think it means I care. Like I told Becky and Joyce, I am fully confident that I can teach four year olds the alphabet and how to write it, and maybe even to read, but I'm nervous about the paperwork issue. I'm a bit more confident thinking that Dana left all of her lesson plans for me to copy. I just want to make sure that I am able to give my class everything that she and I were able to give the class last year. It was fun. It was like being a mom to all of those kids, teaching them how to open their lunches by themselves, and making sure they don't play in the water in the bathroom, as well as seeing how much they improved by the years end in writing their names and numbers. But then I got to send them home to their parents. I guess that would make me more like a grandparent than anything. Either way being involved in other children's lives helped me to grow as a person in a very non-selfish way. It has even helped me to love my own family better.

By the way, here are the pics that I was not able to upload on my last blog entry. And yes, that is a longhorns jersey!!! And yes, my dad was trying to give my mom and I a heart attack.

Peter comes home tomorrow. I asked Michael the other day if he missed daddy, and he said "yes, when is coming home from work?" At that moment it sunk in that I don't think that I had fully explained to him that daddy was on a trip. I know I had told him that daddy went on a trip, but I think I just said it in passing, not a sit down look him in the eye kind of thing. So when he said what he said the way he said it, it made me think that he thought that daddy just went to work and hadn't come home yet. Make sense?? Poor buddy. He talked to Peter tonight before bed and told him all the things that he wants to do with him when he gets back. It made me laugh and cry at the same time. So sweet. When he was done rambling about things we both didn't quite understand, the looked up at me and said, "I am done talking to him now, I want to read books." and that was how the conversation ended.

Last night I was putting him to bed and I had to go get a screaming Aiden. I think he was kind of drifting off because when I walked back in there I acidentally kicked some toys. He poked his head up and matter of factly said to me "mommy I will clean all those toys up tomorrow because this room is so so so so messy, and I don't want you to hurt your feet on the toys, so I will clean them up tomorrow." Then he laid his head back down. All I could say to that was "good idea sweetheart."
I heard him talking in the car to Aiden today, and in a previous blog I mentioned that Aiden just looks over and stares at Michael in the car. Well, I started tuning in on what Michael was saying to his brother, and I thought it was so funny. He was scolding him. He said something to tune of, " when we go to sleep tonight you need to be still and quiet in your bed so that mommy can snuggle me and read me books. So you need to not cry and you need to stay in your bed." How cute is that? I looked at Aiden's face while Michael was talking to him and he just adores whatever comes out of that crazy almost four-year-old's mouth. I put him to bed about 9:30 or so tonight. I was able to read him an extremely long book that I won't be reading again at bedtime because it puts me to sleep before I can get through all of it. I don't like Lyle Lyle, crocadile.
Pray that my pump starts working, I know that is a funny request, but I can't pump because it doesn't work, and I had just gotten my supply up to where I needed it to be. I might just have to go and buy another one tomorrow. Bummer.

Tomorrow is the last day of summer MDO! Next week I have in-service, and then the next I have nothing!! Woohhooo. I am going to get my feet done! Ok Peter?
Goodnight everyone.

I never know what day it is

I never know what day it is. On mondays it is still like a weekend for me, so I constantly forget what I am supposed to be doing. Today the boys and I went over to Grandmother's house, my grandmother, to eat lunch and visit. I also had to teach her a little something new about her computer. Hey, I am the computer generation, but even I still don't get it sometimes. After that I drove over to my mom's house and visited for a few min, then I went back to our house. I made a pizza for Michael for dinner and then we just hung out for the rest of the day.
I told Michael he could play in the sand box at 8:30 this morning because it so absolutely hot out there, I was going to have to tell him no later. At Grandmother's house he went in and out with Pappy and stunk himself up again. Boys stink. Even three year old boys stink!! whew! Michael did have fun playing with his brother in the house though. Let me tell you that the picking on his little brother has already started. I watch to make sure he doesn't do anything to rough but it is actually kind of funny. Today I saw him talking to Aiden and then he put his arm around Aiden and kind of gently rolled him on to his side. It was so cute, and Aiden responds to everything Michael does with a laugh or smile. I did hear earlier these exact words. " Oh! I am sorry Aiden. Shhhh Shhh Shhh. ABCDEFGHIJKL...." on and on. I never can tell what he did to him, but I have a clue that he probably just pokes him too hard or yells too loud or something of that nature. He probably sees Aiden's I didn't like that face and starts trying to make him happy. Aiden kind of rolls onto his side by himself now. He is still so lazy when it comes to being on his tummy, so I don't know when he'll catch up on that end. But he loves sitting in his bumbo and car seat. Here are some pics of the boys playing.
I'll have to them later, it is giving me an error message.
Sorry.

blur.

Sunday's always seem to go by so fast. Have to be at church by 10:20, then get out to lunch about one or so, then go home and shoot the breeze until 4:45 when we go back for adopt a block. We get out from that about 6 or 6:30 and then go home. By then it's time to start getting ready for bed. It's already 9:15! Michael went down fast today. Aiden is in his crib for the fifth time I think tonight. the past couple of nights he's woken up and I would go get him. from that point on he stays in bed with me. But i did take the bold move and put the rocking chair back in his room. Now I need a chair for my room. I might actually make up my bed if I didn't have to sit on it anytime I go in there. Who am I kidding?? I never made it up when the rocking chair was in there. i would like some kind of comfy chair in there though. birthday present anyone? September 11th, remember now.
Aiden fights fights fights going to sleep. He fights it more at night. i do think he had a bit of gas, but otherwise, he still just screams. I think it also has something to do with his antibiotic.

Well, I woke up this morning and realized I hadn't finished the blog from last night. So here it is.

Mowing the yard

Today was busy for me, but I seemed to have more energy. Right now I have a bunch of energy because of my adrenaline pumping. I know, I am a big scardey cat. I hate being in the house alone with two kids. I always have scenarios running through my head about what I'll do in certain situations. It's a wonder how I get to sleep at night. Earlier we had a power surge for half a second. I was laying down with Michael to get him to sleep and all of a sudden we hear a loud pop. Well, I was drifting off, and everything was very still and quiet. As soon a heard that pop, I straight jumped two feet out of bed, literally, I was on my feet and as awake as I would be playing a volleyball game. The pop combined with the beep of my alarm system and every scenario I could possibly think of running through my head, I stood in my hallway ready to get the baby and Michael and run out the front door, or fight, or something, I don't really know. After I kind of gathered my senses and looked around to make sure it wasn't anyone trying to get in the house, I got Michael and left Aiden in his crib and went to knock on the neighbor's door. I asked him if his power was out too, and about one min later a huge GP&L truck came driving down the alley. The power was back on in maybe 5 min or so, but I had to clam Michael back down in order to get him to go to sleep.
That was just tonight though. The day was pretty good, although it started out with me mowing the front and back yard while my mom watched the kids. Besides the oppressive heat I got a couple of painful blisters on my fingers. After that we hung out for a while during which I checked the mail and found that the rings I had ordered for my sling came!! yeah! My mom knows how to sew, so we are going over to Peggy's house sometime tomorrow to sew it up. I'm excited.
i finally have food in the house, as I went grocery shopping today with Aiden. I always forget to not go shopping on the weekend at any time. It is always so crowded. Oh well, it was necessary.
Have a good night.

Catching up.

Oh man. I know I haven't updated this the entire week. I have just been so tired and distracted. I decided I don't want to pay for one of the cool slings that everyone is raving about. So, my mom and I are going to make it. Or at least we are going to try. It should end up only costing me 20 or so to just make, compared to the 60- 70 dollars it would cost to buy it online. crazy huh? It does require some sewing, so that is the only part I am nervous about. My mom said she kind of remembers how to sew. I bet I could figure it out eventually if I really wanted to. I wanted to send a shout out to my wonderful mother-in-law for the "friday night" movie night gift she gave me and Michael. That was so thoughtful, and we really enjoyed being able to sit down and watch that cute movie and eat popcorn and eat candy. So thanks again.
Like I said, this week has been hairy. Nicole was gone and so I had to work with Cassie's sister Brenda in the 2 year old room. I'll tell you what, it is hard to be a teacher. I can't hardly get my kids out the door on time, much less get a craft ready once I get there and the n get everything where it needs to be. I did enjoy the pizza days I had.. two of them!! Michael has recently been just so funny because I'm in the class across from him. Any time he goes to the bathroom, which is in between the two classrooms, he pokes his head in just to talk to me. On thursday, he poked his head in to tell me he needed a wipe to wipe himself and then when he was done playing in the water, he poked his head in and saw me eating a piece of pizza. He got very excited and asked me, more like ordered me to give him some. I did, and he scarfed it down! Then he ate a whole other huge piece. He is hitting another growth spurt. Tonight he ate KFC, thanks to grandmommy, and he ate a WHOLE side of kernel corn and half a side of macaroni, and then ate one and a half of the big chicken strips.
Let me tell you though. He has got an attitude!! woah! I have fought with him today and yesterday only about his attitude. He sometimes, if he catches himself, will pretend that he was just joking right after he said it. Something happened at lunch today. I had several packets of Equal on the table. He was trying to be sneaky and grab one and I had told him not to a couple of times already. Then when I was talking to Olivia, and not looking, I saw him take one. Well, he hid it pretty well, but I also didn't look very hard. My mom said that when I was talking to someone a little bit later he called out out Grandma in a whisper. "grandma! grandma!" and then he held up the packet for her to see. then he said" shhhh. don't tell her." pointing at me. "she thinks they're dangerous." About that time, I turned back around to see him holding up the tortilla and he quickly said "here grandma I was saving this for you for Christmas. And I was saving this tortilla for you for Christmas", as he throws it at her. How sneaky is that little "fella"? Also compliments of Michael. He is nuts!!! He even tried to tell both me and my mom that "Dr. soda, hahahahaha" is healthy for him. He'll pull out the healthy card sometimes when he wants something. Lately it has been water, so we go ahead and give him some. But he tried that with a couple other things as well.
Aiden is doing good. Tuesday I took him back to the doctor because it looked like he was getting sick again. He had eye crusties and he was very very congested as well as runny. Also on Tues at MDO, when I went in to nurse him his eyes looked like allergy eyes, all red and puffy. He was just miserable. Well the doctor said that he had the beginning of another ear infection. That makes officially two ear infections now, at three months old. He seems to be following in mommy's earsteps. (clever huh?) The azthromycin he was on for the first one tore him up and had him screaming for a whole day! So the doctor put him on O-something, It has the generic name on the bottle. It seems to not be hurting his insides bad enough to hurt his outsides. I give it to him right before bed along with a dose of Tylenol so that he will sleep well. I don't think that the antibiotic helps him sleep, but maybe the Tylenol will keep him from hurting. He has been cranky during the second half of the day, around 6:30 or so. He does not like to lay down. He wants to be sitting up at all times so that he can see that crazy brother of his. I tell you what, I don't know what I am going to do once Aidn can move around and follow Michael. Marlee and Makenna made me realize just how dirty my floors were today, and also gave me a reality check of what it is going to be like in just a few short months for me. Can I just start screaming now please? All of the nasty dust bunnies and Macaroni and chip bit that I didn't see on the floor until today will have to be constantly cleaned. I need to any way, but the point is I never realized how big of a mess Michael really makes. Thank you Thank you thank you for opening my eyes. This is the third night in a row that Aiden is in his crib. The first night he went down at 9:30 and I had to wake him up at 8:30. Last night he went down around 9:30 or so and woke up at 4. Not bad. It is actually usual for him to do that. He has one sometimes very short snack and then goes back to sleep. Somehow last night Michael made it into my room and into my bed without me waking up or noticing. All I know is that i woke up and I was snuggling him, arm around him and everything. I must have been tired. I thought it was kind of cute, so I let him stay.
By the way the pictures kind of need explaining. The koala bear Michael said looked like pappaw. And the ones of the boys in th car seats just shows you how Michael entertains Aiden while in the car. His song of choice is ABC's. Aiden loves loves loves to watch him. He even looks over to see Michael when Michael is not in the car. It is kind of sad. He'll look, and than look away and around, then he'll just turn and stare at his seat.
love to all, Goodnight
P.S. By the way Peter, Michael took more of his pretend medicine again, this time with a purple marker. Didn't wash off the first time in the shower, we'll try again later.
